We would like to thank this happy customer for their kind words

"First I would like to start by saying the sales team went way beyond expectations to make sure I had a great experience! Vito was the sales person I originally spoke to and agreed to a price with before even going in. When I got to the dealership Vito and the Sales Manager Jerry kept to the agreed price and also gave me a very reasonable value for my trade in. I got to the dealership late and they did not gripe once about me keeping them past closing. Overall I give the salespeople and dealership an A+ for service, professionalism, integrity, and cleanliness. Biggest compliment I can give is referring my Father to them as I think the Equus would be an amazing car for my Mom.

Second, the 2012 Sonata is amazing!!! I have only had the car for 3 days but have already received about 10 compliments from strangers! Rides great, great features, and quiet ride.

Thanks to the team at Parkway for everything!"

"I bought my Hyundai at Parkway in Valencia and it was the best car buying experience of my life. The internet made everything easy and when I got there the whole process took less than 2 hours. If you are looking for a Hyundai ask for Danika in the internet department and you will not be sorry. Their service department is top notch too!"

HYUNDAI VELOSTER WINS 2011 GOOD DESIGN AWARD

2012_hyundai_veloster_photo
The all-new 2012 Hyundai Veloster earned a GOOD DESIGN™ Award in the Transportation category for its innovative and unique three-door design. The GOOD DESIGN Awards are presented annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Founded in Chicago in 1950, GOOD DESIGN bestows international recognition upon the world's most prominent designers and manufacturers for advancing new, visionary, and innovative product concepts, invention and originality, and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered ordinary product and consumer design.

Hyundai’s Veloster continues to grab consumer attention and media headlines from experts both inside and outside the automotive industry. For 2011, The GOOD DESIGN Awards were judged at the American Institute of Architects in Los Angeles by an international jury of design professionals, architects, experts, and cultural leaders.

“With Veloster, we want to show consumers that high style, fuel efficiency and affordable pricing can all be found in one vehicle,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Veloster stands out from the crowd with a stylish yet functional design. We’re honored that GOOD DESIGN is recognizing the beautiful design and unique personality of the car.”

Veloster’s cutting edge integration of the third-door combined with a breakthrough design inspired by a high-performance sport bike allows Veloster to stand-out from its competition and makes a bold statement about Hyundai’s commitment to innovative design. Distinctive black A-pillars give the glass a motorcycle helmet visor appearance and in the front is an aggressive form of Hyundai’s signature hexagonal front grille and unique Hyundai-signature LED position lights. Veloster’s dynamic rear design has a distinctive glass hatch, dual centered chrome exhaust tips and black lower fascia that complement the assertive front fascia. Inside, the center stack and controls resemble a sport bike fuel tank and the air vents are inspired by motorcycle tailpipes, while the floor console mirrors the seat of a bike.

All winning designs for GOOD DESIGN 2011 can be viewed at the Museum's website: www.chi-athenaeum.org. All products and graphics will be exhibited at The Chicago Athenaeum in the GOOD DESIGN Show for 2011 in Chicago in June, 2012.

HYUNDAI SONATA LEADS THE COMPETITION WITH BEST FUEL ECONOMY IN THE EPA LARGE CAR SEGMENT

Hyundai Sonata, the popular sedan offering class-above interior volume compared with its key competitors, also provides the best fuel economy in the EPA Large Car segment with an exceptional 28 mpg combined fuel economy rating.

Sonata interior volume is a generous 120.2 cubic feet, placing it in the EPA Large Car segment, where most of its competitors offer significantly lower combined fuel economy ratings.

“In developing the made-in-USA Sonata for mid-size sedan consumers, Hyundai engineers continually sought to exceed their expectations,” said Mike O’Brien, Hyundai’s vice president of corporate and strategic planning. “This meant overcoming the traditional compromises that face product development engineers, such as providing comfortable interior roominess coupled with powerful engines and exceptional fuel economy.”

Sonata’s large-car level of interior roominess, combined with fuel economy leadership, proves that manufacturers must continually challenge conventional thinking to delight their customers in new ways. This year, it’s clear that consumers have responded to Hyundai’s development team efforts with Sonata selling more than 200,000 Sonatas for the first time ever.

REAL-WORLD FUEL ECONOMY SATISFACTION

Not only does Sonata excel in government tests with exceptional combined fuel economy ratings, it also proves its efficiency in the day-to-day driving of its owners. In the 2011 J.D. Power APEAL satisfaction study, Sonata had the highest owner-reported satisfaction levels of its mid-size and large sedan competitors, with 30 percent of its owners rating its fuel economy the top rank of “truly exceptional.”

Bloomberg Names Hyundai Veloster Its Best Economy Car

2012_hyundai_veloster_photo
The all-new 2012 Hyundai Veloster earned the title of “Best Economy Car” in Bloomberg’s recent “Best Drives of 2011.” The Veloster is an innovative compact coupe that features ground-breaking design, with a unique third door for easy rear-seat access, Hyundai’s Blue Link® telematics system, Pandora® internet radio with seven-inch touch-screen display and a new 1.6-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine that can be mated to either Hyundai’s first EcoShift™ dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The Veloster is also one of four Hyundai vehicles that achieve 40 mpg on the highway, along with the Accent, Elantra and Sonata Hybrid.

In the third annual roundup of the year’s best vehicles compiled by Bloomberg,

Veloster drew praise from the editors for “amenities like touch-screen navigation, automatic everything, Bluetooth and a rear-view camera.”

“Hyundai has four models which hit the 40 mpg mark, only one a hybrid. That’s progress for the people,” said Jason Harper, Bloomberg’s auto critic. “Most of us want a nice-driving, good-looking automobile that won’t sledgehammer us into debt. Hyundai has gotten in the habit of over-delivering very good cars at underwhelming prices. The Veloster is the most out-and-out fun.”

Joining the Veloster as “Best Drives of 2011” are the Range Rover Evoque, the Lamborghini Aventador, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe and the Overall 2011 Winner, the Audi A7.

As expected for the winner of the “Best Economy Car” segment, the Veloster combines its dynamic design, wealth of technology and outstanding fuel efficiency with great value — The Veloster starts at $17,300 (plus freight).

“We recognize that Bloomberg’s reporters and readers are among the most financially savvy and astute car buyers in the world,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “With this in mind, it’s a tremendous honor that the publication appreciates all of the Veloster’s outstanding qualities in the compact coupe segment, from the telematics’ benefits of Blue Link™ to a fun, yet fuel-efficient 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that yields outstanding fuel economy, combined with an affordable sticker price.”

Jim, we would like to thank you for this five-star review

"Parkway Hyundai is AWESOME!   I shopped internet prices and found an unbelievable low price at another dealer and they not only matched it they beat it. I can't say enough good things  about Jerry Don and his team. They made us feel comfortable through the whole process, that only took two and a half hours (most of which was spent going over the features of our 2012 Genesis R-spec). The following day I went to see San in service, With no appointment to switch the badges, and was in and out in no time. So overall Parkway Hyundai was a great experience! Good job guys."

Hyundai’s 2012 Tucson named as Kelley Blue Book top resale value pick

2012_hyundai_tucson_photo
Hyundai’s 2012 Tucson CUV has been placed on Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Award’s Top 10 list. The automotive-information resource reserves this list for vehicles expected to best retain their value over the next five years.

"Hyundai's year-over-year gain in average residual value of 4.5 percentage points was one of the best in the industry," said Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting for Kelley Blue Book. … “Among this year's top 10 model winners, the Hyundai Tucson is holding its value exceedingly well, gaining more than 10 percentage points from last year with a 60-month residual value of 45.3 percent. With Hyundai's improvements in styling and performance that results in more consumers shopping for Hyundai vehicles, this brand is clearly one to watch."

Depreciation is generally a car owner’s primary expense. Kelley Blue Book’s annual Best Resale Value Awards are designed to help buyers make informed decisions with this in mind.

"The Tucson does an excellent job of artfully combining state-of-the-art safety features, design and affordability, allowing it to retain a high value throughout the course of ownership," said Mike O'Brien, vice president of product and corporate planning for Hyundai Motor America. "Hyundai is proud to offer its Trade-In Value Guarantee as part of Hyundai Assurance, and this program is made possible due to the strength of Hyundai vehicles' residual values, like the Tucson."

The carmaker’s Trade-In Value Guarantee is intended to eliminate concern about depreciation by guaranteeing value for vehicles between 24 and 48 months of ownership.

2012 Hyundai Veloster Honored for Its Style by eCityofStyle

Hyundai_veloster_photo2

The 2012 Veloster, a unique, three-door coupe, marks the second consecutive year the Korean manufacturer has won an award. The Hyundai Equus, the brand's halo vehicle, was the recipient of an auto style award for the 2011 model year.

“Gone are the days of Hyundai's budget car status. Today, the Korean automaker is a legitimate threat to the establishment, designing cars that look considerably more expensive than they really are,” said eCityofStyle editors in a news release. “The Veloster is perhaps Hyundai's most successful execution of its new design language, called Fluidic Sculpture. From the tight front end to the sculpted side creases to the powerful wheel arches, the Veloster's exterior is both aggressive and sleek.”

eCityofStyle.com and eCityofTravel.com are for fashion-conscious consumers and discerning travelers. eCityofStyle.com informs readers about the latest fashion and design trends in a user-friendly format that is organized in easy-to-navigate sections such as Her, Him, Home, Life, Auto and Xtra (a special feature & celebrity-driven events section).

“With Veloster, we want to show consumers that high style and reasonable pricing can go hand in hand,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Veloster stands out from the crowd with a stylish yet functional design. We’re honored that eCityofStyle is recognizing the beautiful design and unique personality of the car.”

Hyundai Elantra Wins ALG Residual Value Award for Second Year in a Row

Hyundai_logo_2
Hyundai announced that the 2012 Elantra has received a Residual Value Award from ALG in the Compact Car segment. ALG, the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data, annually recognizes automakers' outstanding achievements in producing new vehicles that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year period. Awards are given in 19 vehicle categories. This year's awards are based on 2012 model year vehicles.

"The Elantra's eye-catching sporty profile and upscale interior, combined with Hyundai's increasing image of quality, earn the model its second consecutive win in the Compact Car segment," said Raj Sundaram, ALG. "High demand and minimal incentives also help it nab the top spot."

Award winners are determined through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, and pricing and marketing strategies remain the key factors that affect ALG's residual value forecasts.

"Hyundai's Elantra stands out in the competitive compact segment, offering innovation, content, style, and 40 mpg highway standard fuel economy," said Mike O'Brien, vice president, Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "Strong residual value is an important element in Hyundai's overall value equation, reducing the overall cost of ownership and allowing us to offer customers the Hyundai Assurance Trade-In Value Guarantee."

The Trade-In Value Guarantee is the newest addition to the Hyundai Assurance suite of programs. It eliminates concern about depreciation by giving Hyundai owners a guaranteed value for their vehicle in months 24 through 48 of ownership.

The 2012 Elantra sets the bar in the compact sedan category offering a "class-above" midsize car interior volume, modern design, outstanding fuel economy, and loads of comfort and convenience features, all at an attractive starting price. Elantra also delivers standard advanced safety technologies including a new Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system to optimally manage Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS).

Hyundai Contributes More Than $7 Billion to National Economy

Hyundai_logo
The Center for Automotive Research (CAR) in partnership with Hyundai Motor America today announced the findings of a study quantifying – for the first time – the automaker’s impact on the U.S. economy.  Conducted by CAR’s Sustainability and Economic Development Strategies group and commissioned by Hyundai, the economic impact study finds that Hyundai’s U.S. operations and dealerships have contributed more than 94,000 private sector jobs and in excess of $7 billion to the country’s Gross Domestic Product in 2011.  Included in the analysis were Hyundai’s manufacturing and supplier, research and development, engineering, headquarters and dealership operations, among others.

“The importance of this study is directly related to the importance of foreign direct investment and operations in the sustainability of the overall automotive industry in the U.S.,” said Kim Hill, director of the Sustainability and Economic Strategies group at CAR, and the study’s lead.  “While the domestic auto industry restructured and contracted in recent years, international manufacturers have continued to expand their U.S. operations.  Hyundai’s growth, and the expansion of its product development and manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., has outpaced the industry and other major manufacturers.  When taken together with its sister company Kia, Hyundai accounts for more than one-third of the South Korean direct investment and capital spending in the U.S.”

According to the study, of the total 94,000 jobs created by Hyundai, approximately one-third – or 33,000 – is supported by the automaker’s direct employment in its manufacturing-related activities in the U.S.  Associated wages and salaries are estimated at $2.4 billion.  Hyundai’s dealerships support the remaining 61,000 jobs, with associated wages and benefits estimated at $3.5 billion.

“The study confirms that Hyundai’s expanding U.S. operations are creating and retaining jobs, thereby having a significant impact on the country’s economy,” said Hill.  “U.S. auto industry jobs that are related to Hyundai tend to be very well compensated, leading to higher than average household spending and tax payments impacts.”

Key findings of the report include:

Industry

  • Over the past two decades, the U.S. automotive industry has been transformed by billions in new direct investments domestically as well as from Asia and Europe.  Much of the foreign direct investment has gone to areas of the country that were not traditional locations for automotive employment, in effect, stretching the footprint of the U.S. auto industry.
  • Hyundai’s operations are a significant contributor to those states in which the company operates a number of facilities, notably its headquarters operations in California, automotive manufacturing in Alabama, and research and development in Michigan.

Earnings and Employment

  • By choosing to sell and produce in the U.S. market, Hyundai has created jobs not only at its own facilities, but supports jobs across the automotive industry, extending into nearly every community in the nation.
  • Hyundai’s U.S. operations contribute a total of 94,391 private sector jobs, with $5.9 billion in annual wages and salaries.
  •
    1. Of the total 94,391 jobs, 33,313 are supported by employment in Hyundai’s U.S. manufacturing-related activities, with associated wages and salaries estimated at $2.4 billion.  Hyundai’s dealerships in the U.S. support the remaining 61,078 private sector jobs, with associated wages and salaries of approximately $3.5 billion.
    2. Of the 33,313 jobs supported by employment in Hyundai’s U.S. manufacturing-related activities, Hyundai directly employs 4,116 employees and 1,083 Hyundai affiliate partner employees, for a total of 5,199 direct jobs.  Hyundai’s direct employment supports an additional 9,074 intermediate jobs and 19,040 spin-off jobs, which are associated with spending by the people who work in Hyundai’s direct and intermediate jobs.
    3. Of the 61,078 total dealership jobs, 27,938 are new vehicle dealer employees, while 10,641 jobs are associated with suppliers to the Hyundai dealerships.  An additional 22,499 spin-off jobs are a result of the spending by employees who work at direct and intermediate dealership jobs.
  • The ratio of total jobs created to direct employment by Hyundai yields an employment multiplier of 6.4, meaning there are 5.4 additional jobs in the U.S. economy for every one job in Hyundai’s automotive manufacturing operations.
  • The ratio of total jobs created to direct employment in Hyundai dealership operations is 2.2, meaning there are 1.2 additional jobs in the U.S. economy for every one job in Hyundai’s dealership operations.

Investment and Purchasing

  • Hyundai, though a relatively new entrant into U.S. manufacturing, has already made substantial investments in its U.S. manufacturing infrastructure.  Over the past decade, Hyundai, together with Kia, has invested nearly $3 billion at two assembly sites.  These investments include construction of two assembly plants, as well as expansions at both facilities, including $443 million for engine plant expansions at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama.
  • Hyundai has invested in numerous R&D, design and technical centers, service parts distribution operations, administrative operations, logistics centers and a U.S. proving ground.
  • Hyundai’s expenditures on domestically-produced materials, parts and components to supply its automotive manufacturing facilities exceeded $8 billion in 2010.

“Hyundai is proud of our American success story, and of what our growth and job creation have meant to the U.S. economy, automotive industry and American automotive workers,” said John Krafcik, president and chief executive officer of Hyundai Motor America.  “With the majority of vehicles Hyundai sells in the U.S. now produced here, we are primed for continued investment and employment in the U.S.”

Facelifted Hyundai Genesis Coupe Officially Debuts In Korea

2013_hyundai_genesis_coupe_photo
For fans of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, some good news: Hyundai Motor Company pulled the wraps off the hotly anticipated update to the car at the Korean Speed Festival in South Korea this past weekend.

As the dozens of spy photos indicated, the latest Genesis Coupe receives a makeover to bring it more in line with Hyundai’s recent design language. A new front fascia incorporates a large hexagonal grille opening, along with new Veloster-like headlamps and LED running lights mounted above the fog lamps.  Revisions aft of the A-pillars aren’t as extensive, although the new car does receive a few new character lines on its rear fenders, along with new taillamp assemblies.

But the new Genesis Coupe is more than a simple cosmetic refresh. Korean-spec Genesis Coupe models are still available with either a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 and a 3.8-liter V-6, but both engines have been heavily worked over to improve efficiency and, perhaps more importantly, increase power.

The turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 gains a twin-scroll turbocharger and a larger intercooler– both of which help boost output from 210 horsepower and 223 pound-feet of torque in the old car to 271 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. That’s a respectable increase of 61 hp and 52 lb-ft.

Meanwhile, the 3.8-liter V-6 is the latest addition to Hyundai’s range of direct-injection engines. Adding GDI to the Lambda V-6 helped bump power from 283 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque to 345 horsepower and 295 pound-feet.

Hyundai says that the V-6 cars receive an optional eight-speed automatic transmission, which promises “more dynamic driving performance.” We wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the car will continue to offer the existing six-speed manual transmission as well.

Hyundai’s U.S. wing has remained mum on details on the U.S.-spec car, but seeing as the revised 2013 Genesis Coupe is expected to debut Stateside in the next few months, expect those figures to break shortly.

Sport compacts rule the Hyundai display at SEMA 2011

Hyundai_veloster_sema_photo

The big unveiling for Hyundai at the 2011 SEMA Show was the Rhys Millen Racing designed Hyundai Genesis Coupe RM500 which packed the power of the Tau 5.0L V8 into the sleek 2-door but around the Hyundai display, show goers got a look at the Genesis Coupe and the Veloster hatchback  modified for both style and performance. Hyundai also included a gaming area featuring Forza Motorsport 4 with two stations, allowing gamers a chance to go head to head in fast paced racing action while being surrounded by the modded up Korean sports cars.

The new Hyundai Veloster was designed to be a “green” sport compact  that leaned more towards the green side of things than the performance side but the company is quick to point out that they stressed sport as much as they did efficiency and economy. This was bolstered by company CEO John Krafcik announcing that the Veloster will soon be benefitting from a new 1.6L turbocharged engine option and while the company is keeping the actual specs of the new boosted mill a secret for now, Hyundai offered a spread of tuned Veloster models that helped top reinforce the sporty nature of this innovative 4-door hatch. This spread of modded Velosters included one that took the look of a rally car with help from ARK Performance which, coincidentally, had a turbocharged 1.6L Gamma 4-cylinder that offers 210 horsepower. Hyundai also brought out a handful of less modified Veloster models including one that was fitted up to be the ultimate gamers car. Finally, no celebration of the Veloster’s performance capabilities would be complete without Rhys Millen’s super-modified rallycross Veloster sponsored by Red Bull.

The main attraction when it came to the Genesis Coupe was the 449 horsepower RM500 version but Hyundai also brought out the powerful Genesis Hurricane SC Coupe (shown on the right) which uses the 3.8L V6 from the standard production version of the 2-door sports car fitted with a Magnusson supercharger package to pound out some 450 horsepower. The Hurricane SC is also clad in a unique body dressing to make it stand out in the crowd but the biggest news pertains to the high performance modifications. In addition to the blower that helps pack enough power to tackle the top muscle cars on the market, Hyundai built this Coupe up with various Rhys Millen Racing components including an intake and exhaust package to boost the output – also adding a performance suspension and braking package to make sure that it corners as well as it accelerates.

Hyundai has made great strides in working their way into the performance market in the US and at the 2011 SEMA Show, the Korean automaker showed that while they are among the most fuel efficient brands in the US – their cars also have a distinctly sporty side.

Hyundai Confirms 204-HP Veloster Turbo Will Debut In Detroit

2012-hyundai-veloster-front-three-quarter-623x389
After much speculation, Hyundai CEO John Krafcik has confirmed that there is, in fact, a turbocharged version of the Veloster hatchback in the works. The turbocharged hatchback will make its debut this upcoming January at the 2012 Detroit auto show.

Krafcik confirmed the hot hatch last night while at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, Nevada, and – as he often does – sent a tweet to Hyundai’s Twitter feed announcing the car's debut in Detroit. That’s ironic, considering the company used the same account last week to downplay the possibility of a turbo Veloster.

We already knew that this car was coming, and even have a good idea of what will power the veloce Veloster. Just two weeks ago, the automaker took the wraps off of a turbocharged version of the 1.6-liter Gamma inline-four cylinder that is in the current Veloster. That new turbo mill should be good for around 204 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, which is a significant improvement over the 138 hp and 123 lb-ft produced by the of the naturally aspirated engine.

Just as with the rest of its competitors, we expect that the Veloster Turbo will send all of its power through the front wheels. Expect transmission options to mirror those of the base Veloster, with either a six-speed manual or Hyundai’s all-new six-speed dual-clutch. No word yet on whether or not the more powerful engine will affect the Veloster’s 40 mpg highway rating, but don’t be surprised if those figures decrease slightly.

With 204 hp, the Veloster Turbo will sit mid-pack along with other hot hatches. It will best the Mini Cooper S (181 hp), the Volkswagen GTI  200 hp), and the Honda Civic Si (201 hp), although it won’tbe quite as powerful as the Mazdaspeed3 (263 hp) and Subaru WRX (265 hp).

"I visited Parkway Hyundai a couple of times last month. I was looking for the "right" car for me. ( I am super picky) I met Kerfe within seconds. HE IS SO NICE!!! After spending almost 2hrs. with him, I FOUND MY VEHICLE!!! I bought a new Hyundai Sonata, may I add that I came in JUST TO LOOK. Kerfe was the nicest salesman, NOT pushy, NO pressure. I will definitely be back to see him. If he weren't married, I would've swept him away with me. lol"

Hyundai Maintains No. 1 Spot for Brand Loyalty on Kbb.com for Second Consecutive Quarter

Hyundai_logo_2
Kelley Blue Book's www.kbb.com, the leading provider of new car and used car information, today reports that Hyundai upheld its No. 1 spot for brand loyalty on kbb.com for Q3 2011, marking its second consecutive quarter on top.

For Q3 2011, Hyundai's brand loyalty was at 48 percent, with Toyota nearly closing in at 47.9 percent and Subaru at 45.9 percent.  Rounding out the top-five brands for Q3 2011 are Kia in the fourth spot at 45.3 percent and Ford in fifth at 45.2 percent.

While Hyundai continues its lead in brand loyalty, it dropped 4.4 percentage points from the previous quarter.  Hyundai's decline can be attributed to cooled interest in the Sonata and Elantra models.

For the first time since Kelley Blue Book began tracking loyalty, Honda is outside the top-five brands, sitting in the sixth spot at 44.2 percent.  Honda's dip in loyalty is the result of lukewarm reception of the 2012 Civic.  In addition, Honda's perceived supply issues also have influenced shopper activity in Q3 2011.  As year-end approaches, brand loyalty slowly begins to rise.  While the majority of automakers still show declines in year-over-year loyalty, a quarter-over-quarter shift into the black reveals that consumers may be taking notice of seasonal blowout deals and loyalty incentive offers.  Manufacturers also have released the majority of their 2012 models; therefore consumers' shopping choices may narrow as they become familiar with the options available in the marketplace.

"The latter half of the year tends to draw interest toward sport utility, crossover and other large vehicles due to weather conditions and seasonality," said Arthur Henry, market intelligence manager for Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com.  "Since Hyundai's flagship vehicles are its compact and mid-size sedans, it is natural that it suffers in this regard."

Kelley Blue Book Market Intelligence examines brand loyalty while consumers are still in the shopping phase.  For this analysis, loyalty is defined as owners of the brand who are currently shopping the same brand for their next vehicle.  This includes data from consumers who view a trade-in page or private party page in addition to a new-car page on Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com.

HYUNDAI REVEALS FIRST PHOTOS OF NEW-GENERATION i30

33935_1_1
Hyundai Motor Company revealed the first photos of the new-generation i30, ahead of the car’s world premiere at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) next week, showing an exciting new look for the company’s best-selling C-segment hatchback.

Hyundai expects the new-generation i30 to build on the remarkable success of the original model – the company’s first car launched with the ‘i’ prefix, introducing a new nomenclature and heralding a new era for Hyundai in Europe.

The original i30 was also the first model to be designed and engineered in Europe, the first to be produced at the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic, and the first Hyundai car to receive five stars from Euro NCAP.

After its July 2007 launch, the i30 went on to increase its sales in Europe every year, attracting 115,000 buyers in 2010 – the highest-ever annual sales figure for an individual Hyundai model in Europe – and achieving total sales of more than 350,000 units up to mid-2011.

Designed and engineered at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the new-generation i30 represents a further evolution of the unique Hyundai form language, ‘fluidic sculpture’, displaying the company’s distinctive design DNA.

Thomas Bürkle, Chief Designer at Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre, commented: “The new-generation i30 is recognisable thanks to the Hyundai family face with its signature hexagonal-shaped front grille and the jewel-like design of the headlamps, together with distinctive daytime running lights. These lights present an angular shape within a more softly-edged recess, adding a strong personality to the vehicle, as well as a sense of refinement and luxury.”

“Through the profile of the new generation i30, a strong character line runs over the front and rear wheelarches all the way to the tail lamps. A softer, lower character line rises up the car’s flank creating a play of light and shadow – a fundamental feature of fluidic sculpture,” Thomas Bürkle concluded.

Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, commented, “We expect the new-generation i30 to appeal to young, progressive buyers who want a car that not only performs well but looks great too. In this way, the new-generation i30 will contribute to future sales success, growing brand awareness and improving perceptions of Hyundai among European consumers.”

“The car has been designed to take on the leading vehicles in the C-segment and join the all-new i40 as a quality benchmark for Hyundai. Our ultimate customer care package, Five Year Triple Care, will be a valuable point of differentiation for the new-generation i30 in its highly competitive class,” Allan Rushforth added.

The award-winning Five Year Triple Care package provides five years of unlimited-mileage warranty, five years of roadside assistance, and five years of vehicle health checks.

Hyundai Accent is 'the people's car'

Hyundai_accent_peoples_car

Apologies and all due respect are in order to a certain German automaker, but it seems the term "the people's car" has been appropriated by the 2012 Hyundai Accent.

The new bearer of the people's torch takes all the metrics that the auto-buying denizens of the world actually need and rolls them into one not-so-giant ball of pragmatism.

The car is affordable and efficient with both space and gas, and it manages to sprinkle in a bit of fun, though it could use a little more.

Aside from that, and some minor ergonomic issues, this sub-compact ride for the masses is a good one.

Available in both sedan and hatchback versions, the Accent is the latest model to come from a company experiencing a white-hot 2011 in terms of sales, and Hyundai says its cynosure is its cars' fuel economy.

The Accent continues that trend with its potent and clever 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine. Vastly outmuscling competitors including the Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris, the Accent puts out 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque.

And it does so while getting the best gas mileage of its class — no small feat for this fuel-averse crowd.

The Accent is able to do this by being lighter and more aerodynamic than most. But it also wrings more miles per gallon out of its engine by using something called direct injection. Though it may sound like a Jose Canseco workout regimen, it's actually a nifty technological update that makes fuel injection more precise and efficient.

It does this by introducing the gasoline directly to the cylinder at the exact moment and in the exact amount that the engine needs to burn it, then mixing it with air. Normal gas engines combine the fuel and air beforehand, and that mix then goes into the cylinder.

The difference in effectiveness is like throwing a bucket of water on a match to put it out, versus using a well-aimed squirt gun.

The effect is noticeable at the pump. Whether Accent buyers choose the standard six-speed manual transmission or the six-speed automatic, the Accent's fuel economy stands at 30 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway, according to estimates from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Over almost 300 miles of testing a $17,685 Accent SE, I averaged 26 mpg.

That chunk of change nets you a loaded Accent hatchback (or five-door in car-speak) for at least $1,000 less than a similar Ford Fiesta or Honda Fit. This includes the automatic transmission that's a $1,000 option, a flaccid six-speaker stereo system with MP3 playback, XM satellite radio and steering-wheel mounted controls, Bluetooth, alloy wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

One rung below is the Accent GS, also a five-door, that starts at $15,355 with the manual transmission. At the basement level is the Accent GLS, a sedan that starts at $14,995.

All Accents come with a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a host of safety features including four-wheel disc brakes with ABS (unique for this segment), electronic stability control, six air bags and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

Although Hyundai deserves credit for the Accent's value proposition, it's in how they put it all together that the automaker really earns the people's respect.

The inside of the Accent is wonderful because of its simplicity. The dashboard layout is straightforward; Hyundai deliberately avoided the design flourishes seen in their Elantra sedan after critics (though not this one) chided it for being overkill.

Some might call it boring, but after one drives a Ford Fiesta or Honda Fit, which have interiors that push style over substance, the Accent is a welcome reprieve.

The construction and materials are also impressive; inexpensive cars are the raison d'etre for hard plastics, yet they're largely banished from this Hyundai. Think Chipotle assemblage on a Taco Bell budget.

Also noteworthy is how quiet the cabin is; road noise is appreciably low for a car of this size and weight, and the doors close with a solid thud.

Legroom and headroom will fit the people's tallest passengers, and cargo capacity on both the sedan and hatchback Accents is on the higher end of the segment.

KBB.Com Names 2012 Hyundai Accent a Top Back-to-School Car

2012_hyundai_accent_photo

Kelley Blue Book’s www.kbb.com, the leading provider of new- and used-vehicle information, named the 2012 Hyundai Accent to its list of 2011 Top 10 Back-to-School Cars. Changing up this annual list for 2011, the kbb.com editors chose five new cars and five used cars for the Top 10 list, and ranked their top choices from five to one in each category. Accent took the number one spot on the new cars list, ranking above Honda Fit, Ford Focus, Fiat 500 and Chevrolet Cruze.

“Like its bigger brothers the Sonata and Elantra, the 2012 Hyundai Accent appeals to a finely-tuned sense of value, putting a lot of equipment into a stylish, roomy package that competes more than favorably with competitors like the Ford Fiesta, Mazda2 and Honda Fit,” said the kbb.com experts. “While not pavement-ripping, the 138-horsepower engine will deliver 30 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the open road. And at a price that’s a bargain, the 2012 Accent demands to be on your back-to-school shopping list.”

Vehicles on kbb.com’s 2011 Top 10 Back-to-School Cars list were chosen with the following criteria in mind: safety, affordability, versatility, reliability, cost of ownership and fuel efficiency, along with the ever-subjective ‘fun-to-drive’ and ‘good-looking’ factors. Each new car on the list is available for $18,000 or less, using Kelley Blue Book’s exclusive Fair Purchase Price as the yardstick.

“The 2012 Hyundai Accent is tapping into the consumer demand for high-content, fuel efficient cars,” said Brandon Ramirez, product planning manager, Hyundai Motor America. “Like the Elantra and Sonata Hybrid, Accent achieves 40 mpg highway without any additional cost for a high fuel economy package, making it a very attractive car to both students and their parents.”

Accent reinvigorates the subcompact segment, offering the company’s distinctive and upscale “Fluidic Sculpture” design, best-in-class standard fuel economy, exceptional roominess and a full complement of standard safety features. Accent’s class-leading standard fuel economy is yet another example of Hyundai’s dedication to improving fuel efficiency and is the fourth nameplate in Hyundai’s lineup delivering 40 mpg on the highway.

All-New 2012 Hyundai Accent Off to Roaring Start

2012_hyundai_accent_hatchback

The Hyundai Accent was America's best-selling sub-compact car in July.

"The all-new Accent outsold two great small cars we really respect in July – the Honda Fit and Ford Fiesta," said John Krafcik, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. "In fact, it was the best-selling sub-compact in the industry last month, its first full month of sales. It's a good indication that consumers are connecting with our new design, 40-mpg fuel economy, and the Assurance Trade-In Value Guarantee. It's a great recipe for this economy."

The 2012 Accent's all-aluminum 1.6-liter Gamma four-cylinder engine uses the latest engine technology to deliver a class-leading 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of
torque and a best-in-class standard 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway fuel economy rating. The engine's most notable feature is its use of Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI), a first for the sub-compact category. By precisely controlling the injection of fuel, GDI allows for better fuel economy, increased power and reduced emissions.

The 2012 Hyundai Accent will be the fourth nameplate in the Hyundai lineup delivering 40 MPG on the highway, including the Sonata Hybrid, Elantra and Veloster,
due to arrive in dealerships in a few weeks. Accent's class-leading standard fuel economy is an example of Hyundai's dedication to improving fuel efficiency with
advancements to traditional gasoline powered vehicles.

Hyundai gains in measure of brand loyalty

Hyundai_loyalty_photo
The Hyundai brand continues to solidify its image among auto shoppers.

Kelley Blue Book said that Hyundai toppled Honda and Toyota to take the top spot in brand loyalty, according to the auto information company’s measure of brand loyalty during the second quarter of this year.

While Hyundai has once before held that position for a month, it was the first time since Kelley began tracking the data that Hyundai has held the No. 1 spot for an entire quarter.

Interactive: Search the U.S. government's vehicle complaint database

Hyundai has retooled its lineup and is picking up market share, mostly because of its hot-selling sedans, the Sonata and the Elantra.

Through the first six months of 2011, Hyundai’s U.S. sales have risen 26% compared with the same period a year earlier, to 327,797 vehicles, according to Autodata Corp. Its growth is more than double the rate of the entire industry in the U.S. this year.

Hyundai held a 5.1% market share during the first half of this year, up from 4.6% a year earlier.

During the second quarter, Hyundai’s brand loyalty was at 52.3%. Honda was 49.7% and Toyota was 47.7%. Rounding out the top five were Ford with 45.4% and Subaru at 44.8%.

Kelley Blue Book defined loyalty by looking for owners of a brand who are currently shopping the same brand for their next vehicle. This includes data from consumers who view a trade-in page or private party page in addition to a new-car page on Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com auto information website.

“Hyundai’s product renaissance is benefitting the company not just by attracting an all-new customer base, but by helping them to retain current loyal Hyundai owners, as well,” said Arthur Henry, an analyst at Kelley Blue Book.

Hyundai looks to score again with Accent

Hyundai has twice punctuated its recent success with exclamation marks when it comes to family cars. Now, it's going for the accent mark.

How? Following sales home runs with revamps of its Sonata midsize and Elantra compact sedans, Hyundai used its now-familiar formula to remake its entry-level subcompact Accent by:

•Making it a bit bigger to be roomier inside.

•Adding features more commonly seen in larger and more expensive cars.

•Using high-tech powertrain upgrades to increase gas mileage, making the new Accent capable of 40 miles a gallon on the highway.

•Amping up its looks in the distinctive new swoopy Hyundai style.

It's the recipe the South Korean automaker used to turn its formerly bland, forgettable Sonata and Elantra into hits.

Now Accent, just arriving at dealers, could shake up the subcompact segment populated by rivals such as the popular Honda Fit and new Ford Fiesta, as well as the Toyota Yaris. Coming soon are a redone Nissan Versa and all-newChevrolet Sonic.

"It raises the bar," says George Peterson, president of consulting firm AutoPacific, of the Accent.

The automatic-transmission model starts at $15,195, and shipping costs add $760 to the price of each. Accent also will offer a five-door hatchback version starting at $14,595 plus shipping.

The new Accent represents a sort of coming of age for Hyundai, which has gravitated away from the low end of the market — and selling mostly on cheaper price — as its image has improved.

Hyundai sets sales record

Hyundai_vehicle
Hyundai Motor America has announced an all-time sales record for both the month of June and in the first half of the year.

Hyundai sold 59,209 vehicles in June. Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, located in southern Montgomery, is the primary producer of Elantras and Sonatas in the United States. The cars make up nearly 65 percent of Hyundai Motor America's sales.

The June sales were a 16-percent increase from the same period a year ago.

It came as a small surprise that the first half of the year set a sales record since June also marked the sixth consecutive month that Hyundai has set an all-time monthly sales record. Overall, sales are up 26 percent from last year.

Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America's executive vice president of national sales, attributes the success to not only the attractiveness of the vehicles, but their fuel-efficiency. He said he believes the company's success will continue throughout the year.

"We are confident going into the third quarter that the company is on track for its best year ever," Zuchowski said in a news release issued by the company.

John Krafcik, who is president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America, agreed that the fuel-efficient vehicles Hyundai produces are what Americans want and need in a car.

"The best way to reduce America's fuel consumption is to put more fuel-efficient vehicles in American driveways, right now," Krafcik said in the written statement. "The best way to do that is to mass produce the most efficient technologies ... and deploy them as standard equipment, not expensive options."

As demand for the most popular Hyundai cars, the Sonata and Elantra, increases, production at the Montgomery Hyundai plant attempts to keep up. The plant operates on a five-day-a-week schedule with two 10-hour shifts each day. One Saturday production day is also included each month.

There is no plan to increase or decrease production, according to Robert Burns, local Hyundai spokesman, "At this time, we are going to stay with what we've been doing so far," Burns said, adding there have been no discussions about adding additional Saturdays to the schedule.

Burns said that the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing of Alabama plant has been running at capacity in an effort to keep up with consumer demand.

"At least 50 percent of the Elantras come from Korea," Burns said.

Year-to-date, HMMA production is up 13.2 percent from 2010. Based on projected production days left, the plant will likely achieve 330,000 units by the end of the year.
